Cooper was referred to Kids Who Count at 18 months. He is our 3rd child, and when the Pediatrician recommended speech services, I wasn’t sure how it would go. This was all new to me, but I knew he needed help. Kids Who Count made me feel very comfortable as a “newbie” to the process and supported our family every step of the way.
When Cooper turned 2, his doctor was concerned about Autism. I wasn’t really surprised. And, Kids Who Count was there to help. The process has not always been easy, and Cooper has had challenges along the way; the birth of his baby sister was a difficult adjustment and starting a social skills playgroup was hard for Cooper. With a lot of help from Kids Who Count, he ended up being a “star student” in the group. I am so proud of how far he has come and I’m thankful for all the help he received. He met all the goals we set for him, which to be honest, I wasn’t always sure that was going to happen.
When he was close to turning 3, Kids Who Count helped to prepare Cooper and me for his transition to preschool and the IEP process. We had a practice bus ride and helpful meetings with the district. Linda and Katie have been wonderful teachers for Cooper and me. They helped me learn how to do these things on my own with him as a parent. Thank you for all of your help with Cooper. We are truly grateful to the Kids Who Count team.
